- This award is presented each year by the Greater Akron Soccer Officials Association to the girls soccer team that we feel best exemplifies sportsmanship and fair play.
- GASOA started presenting this award after the untimely death of long time referee, Rick Schlue.
- Rick was an amateur, high school and collegiate referee and had coached youth soccer in the Greater Akron Amateur Soccer Association for many years.
- He was highly respected both on and off the field and had done many regular and post season tournament games.
- Rick had been a Navy medic assigned to a Marine infantry company in Viet Nam and died of complications of Agent Orange poisoning in July of 1988. The Greater Akron Soccer Officials Association initiated this award the following year and have presented it to a deserving girl’s soccer team since that time.

- It is given in honor of long time soccer official, Sandor Reiner.
- Sandor was a collegiate, USSF and high school referee and was active on the board of several local soccer associations.
- Sandor officiated hundreds of regular season and post season high schools and collegiate soccer matches.
- Sandor passed away in October 1979 doing the thing he loved most, refereeing soccer.
Sandor was working the Copley vs Hudson soccer match when he succumbed to a massive heart attack just before the start of the second half of play.
- the Greater Akron Soccer Officials Association established this award the following year and have presented it every year since Sandor’s death.
